Kartini-As teachers, lecturers, tutors or practitioners, we must find ways to make learning and teaching enjoyable for our students. How can we make the class and students stay in class to listen and absorb the learning?
However, on the other hand, the lecture method may be tedious for students, so as teachers, we must think more creatively and innovatively when teaching with fun methods.
Currently, students are no longer required to absorb information; they should be able to search, explain, present, and find facts until they can solve problems and find answers. Teachers become good facilitators and mentors by directing their students to explore, search, and find answers to the knowledge they seek.
The “fun learning method” is an innovative approach that significantly enhances student engagement and knowledge retention. This method promotes an interactive learning environment where students participate actively in their educational journey rather than passively absorbing information through traditional lectures. Research indicates that active learning techniques lead to higher academic performance; for instance, a Harvard study found that students engaged in active learning scored better on tests than those who attended conventional lectures despite feeling they learned less (Parsons, 2019).
Moreover, the incorporation of motivating teaching techniques further amplifies student engagement. Cents-Boonstra et al. (n.d.) emphasize that teachers who exhibit enthusiasm and provide opportunities for experimentation create a more engaging classroom atmosphere. Such environments foster relatedness among students and encourage collaborative exploration, essential for a more profound comprehension of complex concepts.
Ultimately, institutions must address existing barriers to implementing fun learning methods by equipping educators with the skills necessary for success (Bidabadi et al., 2016).
Therefore, implementing creative and innovative methods is necessary to produce enjoyable learning, foster student activeness, and create a fun learning atmosphere. So the students will be motivated and enthusiastic about learning activities.
